Horse Starting: J&M has the knowledge to take in a horse and work with it no matter its current training level. Our head trainer, Jennifer Brown, has proven her abilities most recently at the 2011 Mustang Makeover in Murfreesboro, TN. In this event she took a captured Mustang to J&M 90 days prior to the competition then gentling, desensitizing and training the horse. Jennifer proudly took home the Rookie Champion award in the Legends division for her effort. When starting a new horse we begin with the desensitizing process, moving to gentling for halter work, ground manners, accepting the bridle and saddle, ground driving and mounting. Dependent on your goals for the horse, we can then move to more advanced training.
General Training & Trail Riding: Jennifer also has extensive knowledge in trail riding and versatility. She has competed on a national level at versatility competitions and most recently on "America's Favorite Trail Horse", a television series that aired on HRTV in 2011. This training program consisting of stopping, backing, turning, side lateral movement, bridge crossing, all of which is geared for the trail rider. If you are looking to get your horse ready for the trail we can help. The Trail Riding program also includes training your horse to travel through water, across bridges and tight trails. At J&M we have dogs, tractors and a steady amount of traffic entering the facility which will help your horse to become accustomed to a variety of disturbances.
Show Training: At J&M we offer a program called "Conditioning Solutions for Horse and Rider" which is geared for the Show Rider. This program focuses on helping you ready for showing no matter the discipline. If you like to show English, Western or in Speed Competitions, we can tailor a program to acheive your goals. Jennifer has been showing her horses in these disciplines for 20 years with outstanding results.
Problem Horses: J&M Horse Training takes in problem horses and works with the horse and owner to correct any issues that the horse may be having. This includes problems such as saddling, bridling, standing still for the owner for mounting, respecting the owner, gate issues with barrel horses, spookiness on the trail, reluctance leaving the yard, rearing, loading, and so much more! Call with any questions you may have concerning your problem horse. We can offer help or suggestions over the phone prior to booking your horse for training.
Tune Ups/Refreshers/General Exercise: Offering tune ups and exercising for those who haven't the time to get their horses back in shape for competition, trail riding, showing, speed events, etc. If you don't have the time for those first few rides after a long sit in the pasture, or don't feel comfortable getting back on, bring your horse to us for that 'Spring Refresher'. We can get them back in shape before you go on that first ride in the spring or anytime of the year. With proper, careful conditioning, we will get your horse back to that 'Ride Ready' shape that they once had.
